Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Sends Four Victims Wounded in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood

Sacramento County Sheriff's Office investigators are examining a violent incident that occurred Saturday evening at the Howe Community Park area as Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were dispersing an unsanctioned gathering of a crowd of several hundred.

Prior to the Shooting

Law enforcement initially got calls about Howe Park around half past six in the evening after obtaining information of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Soon after, a second caller reported concerning a possible fight breaking out at the location.

A sheriff's airship conducted an aerial sweep but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. Despite this, it became clear that several hundred individuals had come together at the location in an unauthorized manner.

When the Shots Rang Out

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies started clearing the unauthorized gathering by forming a perimeter and issuing commands over loudspeakers commanding attendees to clear out. Roughly 15 minutes were allowed for people to comply.

As the crowd was being cleared that upwards of 20 gunshots were fired. The shots caused mass panic. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies wasted no time in looking for those injured.

Those Who Were Hit

Altogether, four victims were located with gunshot injuries. All four Arden Arcade Sacramento crime 2026 — made up of one woman and three men each apparently in their early to late twenties — were rushed to Sacramento area hospitals. Medical personnel indicated that two had critical injury classifications, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one victim's wounds were minor. According to authorities, all four were expected to survive.

Sacramento Metro Fire assisted at the location and provided medical assistance those who had been shot on location.

Crime Scene Evidence

Most of the gunfire was confirmed to have occurred adjacent to the Cottage Way corridor close to the Home Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Investigators discovered more spent casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Round impacts were also found in the wrought iron fence adjacent to the Home Depot store. The physical evidence pointed to that a second shooter had been discharging rounds toward the south from along Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot building and parking lot. The store itself was temporarily locked down during the incident. CSI units alongside detectives worked tirelessly throughout the night.

Suspect Vehicle Located

Information obtained through scanner monitoring showed that a Kia vehicle was pulled over in Solano County. Four individuals were held for questioning. Deputies were en route to collect those detained to pick up those detained for further questioning. Surveillance footage confirmed that two shooters had been involved.
